Service: The Key To Success

Tracey Cook | TJ Stockfeeds, Kerang

Tracey has been a sales assistant at TJ Stockfeeds for a little over two years. She had previously worked in retail stores – however not in the stockfeed industry – and has always been around agriculture and farming. This prior knowledge and experience allows her to understand her customers’ needs and assist them to find the right product to care for their animals. Interacting with customers and helping them find the most suitable products is a favourite aspect of Tracey’s day. “I believe the keys to success in our business are having a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, prompt service, listening to our customer’s needs, doing our best to provide for them and getting back to them with information.”

TJ Stockfeeds is a family-owned business in Kerang, Victoria, owned by Neville and Michelle Miller since 2018. The store supports customers from Kerang and the surrounding areas, catering to a wide range of practices including everything from cropping to emu farming.

“We stock a wide variety of products for all types of pets and livestock. Our range includes feed and animal health products and general items including feed bowls and horse coats. We also carry husbandry products for numerous animals, fencing/stockyard items, farm chemicals and work boots.”

Tracey has been purchasing stockfeed from csg since June 2022 after having difficulty getting stock from a previous supplier. TJ’s currently stocks csg’s Scratch Mix, Pigeon Mix and Feed Wheat, and has found that customers are very happy with these products, with sales on them steadily increasing.

csg’s main point of difference is the quality of their stockfeed products and their superior service. “I find the team at csg easy to get a hold of and if they are not available, they always return my call. We mainly deal with Mark and find him very easy to talk to.”

The La Nina climate in Australia has brought with it torrential rain causing flooding in many parts of NSW and Victoria. Due to the wide expanse of low lying and flat areas surrounding Kerang, roads were blocked by the flood waters for weeks. This made it challenging for TJ’s staff and customers to get to the store.

“Fortunately, we have been able to keep the shop open, even with only one staff member at times, which has helped our customers access supplies.”

Working in the stockfeed industry, Tracey finds a great sense of achievement in providing products to customers which she knows will provide their animals with the best feed available to maintain their health and nutrition.
